Letter from NEHA President Libby Bischof (4/24/2020):
This semester has brought unprecedented changes to our personal and professional lives, and the NEHA Executive Board is keeping you all in our thoughts as you finish out your academic years and cope with varied museum, library, historic site and historical society closures.
As you know, our Spring 2020 conference at Emmanuel, slated to be held last weekend, was cancelled. We are hopeful that we will meet in person again this fall at Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts, on October 17th. If we cannot meet in person, we will plan a digital conference experience instead. Calls for papers will go out next week, and we will also honor any previously accepted presenters and panels scheduled for spring 2020 who wish to present their work in the fall.
Our spring meeting is typically when we hold our annual elections, and to honor our constitution, we will still carry on the election for NEHA Officers, the Executive Committee, and the Nominating Committee. Because so many of your mailing addresses are your institutional addresses, and given widespread campus closures, we are emailing the ballots and the candidate bios. Please watch your inboxes for the email. Print and mail the ballot, postmarked by May 11. If you do not have access to a printer at home, you may hand-write your ballot if you wish.
We thank you in advance for your vote, and we are grateful to the nominating committee for a wonderful slate of candidates and colleagues willing to serve our organization and the profession.
Warm regards,
Libby Bischof, President, New England Historical Association
