Mark Peterson Awarded James P. Hanlan Book Prize

NEHA’s Book Prize Committee (Kristen Petersen, Marie B. McDaniel, Ian Delahanty, and Martin Menke) are delighted to announce the winner of this year’s James P. Hanlan Book Prize. Mark Peterson, the Edmund S. Morgan Professor of History at Yale University, has received the award for his work The City-State of Boston: The Rise and Fall of an Atlantic Power, 1630-1865 (Princeton, 2019).

Remembrance for Bruce Cohen, Professor Emeritus at Worcester State

We are saddened to learn of the passing this week of Bruce Cohen, longtime member and former Treasurer of the New England Historical Association and professor emeritus at Worcester State University. He died Thursday, May 7, in Worcester Massachusetts of complications from COVID-19. We will certainly miss his thoughtfulness, passion for labor history, and personal and intellectual generosity.
